'The Legend of Zelda' Desktop Delivery Of Part I

The best before you start is to make things clear, so I will not waste time. This is a post in which I will discuss very personal Zelda edited for consoles desktop Nintendo. You will not find here a comprehensive analysis of cold and each title divided into sections, with a description full of data than offered each delivery. On the contrary, it is necessary to look into individual memory (mine), trying to translate my passion for the franchise and gave me the feeling that at any given time each game. In short, when you reach the end of the text, feel certain complicity with the statement if you're a fan, or have a rough idea of Why is Zelda and intuit why something special to many people is if you've never walked through Hyrule.

You know what my intentions are, maybe not my approach interests you, or you may have created some curiosity in you. If the former, I'll see you in other post, if the latter, I welcome you. We started the trip.

'The Legend of Zelda' (1986)

I found it a console because of my little brother, who called for a NES by kings. I could not imagine that there was a home gadgets offering the thrills of the arcade machines of the bars (in my village had not arcades). My job was to buy a first title for the machine that Christmas on a trip to the capital.

I first caught the attention of 'The Legend of Zelda' by Gold Cartridge armor that encased in a cardboard box. After reading the description of the game was totally in love. It had a huge world in which adventures without the limitations of a game session (containing a battery save your progress, indicating the dimensions of the universe and that enclosed). However, and much to my regret I bought 'Batman', a title much more attractive than the one with graphics squares and homely. All to please my brother and enhance the sense that we had a recreational home.

As you will, the second was the charm. 'The Legend of Zelda' came home for my birthday, and here to stay. It was the beginning of a happy romance that remains intact in the present. Nothing more to start playing and you realize that it was a different game. A character appearing in the middle of a huge world to undertake Hero's Journey in minimalist version. His graphic primitives (and that feeling was then) came alive in the imagination, and you saw mental everything you expected. The mountains to the north, the central lake, forest, cemetery, challenging dungeons behind every closed door, the secrets behind the cracks, holes under the bushes ... 'The Legend of Zelda' was exploration, freedom and mystery. Definitely that was the beginning of a love for life.

What I checked: meant a break with everything he had ever seen. The usual side-scrolling spent an overhead view that presents a world without limitations by which roam freely.

'Zelda II: The Adventures of Link' (1987)

The next step was clear. Remembered seeing in the mall a second part of the game that had fascinated me. Without thinking I bought it after months of saving. Back to get my hands on a cartridge which contained a whole bright world to discover. My expectations were so high as it was my disappointment later.

That Zelda there was nothing that I had marveled at the previous delivery. The graphics were much better but soon you realize that the issue did not come with magic. The overhead view is not got you this time directly in the world, was a representation of the real aspect of the game, side view that was omnipresent in combat, towns and dungeons. Disappeared and the feeling of freedom, and with it all my illusions. Suffice to say that is the only title of the series in its desktop version that has not ended.

What I checked: the huge disappointment, the sad feeling that the first title was something unique that would never experience.

'The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past' (1991)

Years passed and got a new console. This time we bought it equally between my brother and me. The Super Nintendo was a genuine outrage technique that left you speechless with their first title, a masterpiece called 'Super Mario World'.

From the first moment I wondered if it would make a game Zelda for this powerful machine. No information found in any magazine (although I found out I had to thank a certain Miyamoto) and time passed slowly by the hand of colorful action games and platforms. But one day the miracle happened. My brother returned from a vacation on the beach 'The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past' under his arm and a smile from ear to ear on his face.

There was fear and excitement in equal measure when we put on the console first. That betrayal still hurt years ago. What happened next does not belong to the past, became the eternal present. 'A Link to the Past' Zelda is the most times I played from start to finish. It's always there and always returns to it (the last time, in a portable version, a perfect place that keeps it fresh as the first day).

'The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past' was more, much more than I ever could have imagined. It had all the virtues of the first installment multiplied to infinity Prettier, richer, bigger, deeper, more challenging, and more emotional. The game was incomprehensible, and found a wealth beyond the main plot. Hyrule was a vivid world inhabited by a bunch of secondary characters, each with its history and personal drama. The complex dungeons were just a huge piece of the puzzle that was the game itself. 'A Link to the Past' was the game to get lost, where to stay and live. It's the game you put on the heart by the book that has marked with the movie you will never forget, along with the comic that made you love comics. And it is impossible not to love 'A Link to the Past'.

What I checked: find that when I thought the game was ending, I really had just begun, and the wide world had ever seen was twice as big.

'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' (1998)

'A Link to the Past' was the ultimate adventure or not? An eternity after this masterpiece was presented to the powerful Nintendo 64 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time'. The technological leap between a title and one was brutal, but that would not have been enough if after this brilliant aspect we had not found the soul of the original work, and yes it was there, if I was going.

'Ocarina' also did not conform to present the same idea with an aspect of art, the game also fed details and findings that did not exist in polygonal 3D games so far, so quickly became a benchmark and an example to follow by most adventure games later. You delve into all this analysis we are preparing for Nintendo 3DS review.

I waited 'Ocarina' so long that when I finally began to play I got a drop. So great had been waiting and such anxiety, I suffered some disappointment in the opening minutes. Needless to say, the game was gradually taking control of everything around me because Ocarina grew to devour everything. It was the game that introduced him to my skeptical friends with video games to tell you more confident than ever that these could be art, was the game that saw him play more times than just enjoying what I played, which made me think I was at a medium to high art of cinema or literature. Yes, Ocarina was huge, and even before I knew I would always finish my favorite game of all time.

What I checked: The incredible feeling of freedom I felt when I first saw the meadow of Hyrule extended without limits to me.

I will continue my journey in the next issue by putting a mask to stop the fall of the moon, sailing through an endless sea and becoming wolf twilight. Meanwhile I leave you with a video that celebrates the 25 anniversary of the franchise. It shows the titles discussed, which is to come as the main architects taking pains to explain that something intangible that is impossible to synthesize into words and feeding each game (essence call it the players, miracle calls Eiji Aonuma). See you at the next step of this wonderful journey. I hope so.
